An Amazfit GTR 3 arrived for battery replacement. In this model, the battery sits inside a sealed watch case and can only be reached from the display side. Why opening the GTR 3 at home is risky

The greatest risk is not the battery itself but reaching it. The AMOLED screen is one of the most expensive parts of the watch, so an unsuccessful opening attempt can make the final repair much more expensive.

The display should not be pried with a knife, overheated with a household hair dryer, soaked with solvent or pulled away in one sudden movement. Even if the glass does not crack, the touch layer, panel, cable or frame can still be damaged.

Opening the watch also disturbs the original factory adhesive seal. We restore secure display bonding, but the original water-resistance rating cannot be guaranteed after service. A repaired watch should not be used for swimming, showering or submersion.
