Repair feasibility depends on the exact model construction, device condition and availability of compatible components. The cost is agreed after diagnostics.
The E Ink panel, touch layer and frontlight are separate systems
An e-reader uses a fragile E Ink panel to form the image. The outer glass may look intact while the internal panel is fractured and shows lines, black stains or a permanently frozen area. Some models use separate screen, touch and cover layers; others combine them in one assembly.
The frontlight sits in front of the panel and includes LEDs, a light guide and control circuit. Uneven illumination, a dark zone or a missing frontlight does not always require a complete display replacement; measurements and disassembly determine the correct repair.

Power, charging and mainboard repair
A Kindle, PocketBook, Kobo or BOOX that will not start may have a deeply discharged battery, failed port, charging controller, power button, flex cable or mainboard. A frozen startup image is not a diagnosis because E Ink keeps displaying it without power.
Do not connect a liquid-damaged reader to a charger. Current accelerates electrochemical corrosion, so we first disconnect the battery safely, clean the board and inspect the affected circuits.

Software recovery with data risk kept to a minimum
Freezing on the logo, repeated restarts or lost computer connectivity can be caused by software, storage or power hardware. We rule out the hardware fault first and only then update or restore official firmware.
Tell us at intake if notes, documents or the library are important. A reset or firmware restoration may erase user data, so those steps are taken only after the risk is agreed.
How to prepare an e-reader for diagnostics
Bring the reader with its usual charging cable and the pen if handwriting is affected. Provide the exact model number from the rear label or settings, because visually similar versions often use incompatible screens and batteries.
Do not press a broken panel or glue down a lifted rear cover, which may be caused by a swollen battery. After liquid exposure, do not power or charge the device before inspection.
What to bring and consider before your visit

Can a cracked E Ink screen be repaired?
A fractured panel is normally replaced as a compatible screen or display module rather than repaired at glass level. We first verify the exact part number and construction.
Why does an image remain when the reader is switched off?
E Ink retains the last image without power, so a frozen page does not prove the reader is working. We test the battery, power circuit, display flex and panel.
Can you replace the battery in Kindle, PocketBook, Kobo or BOOX readers?
Yes, in many models. We match the cell by part number, dimensions, voltage, connector and controller rather than the reader name alone.
Do you repair e-reader frontlights?
Yes. We diagnose LEDs, the light guide, flex cable, contacts and frontlight driver. Depending on construction, an individual element or part of the display assembly is replaced.
Will my books and files remain after repair?
Hardware repair normally leaves data intact. If a reset or firmware restoration is required, we explain the risk in advance and recommend a backup whenever possible.
Do you accept old or uncommon models?
Yes, when the construction is serviceable and a compatible part can be sourced. For discontinued readers, timing and price depend more heavily on screen, battery or housing availability.
How much does e-reader repair cost?
Diagnostics are free. Labour starts from 3,000 RSD; the final price depends on the model, fault, disassembly complexity and part cost, and is agreed before repair.
Is factory water resistance retained after opening?
The original protection rating cannot be guaranteed after repair. Sealing is restored where the construction, housing condition and available materials permit it.
