When glass replacement is enough and when the full display module is required
How screen repair type is chosen, and why the outcome depends on more than the visible crack itself.
From the outside, two broken screens may look the same, but internally the situation can be very different. In some cases only the outer glass is affected, while in others the panel, touch layer, frame or display fitment are already involved.
A lighter repair path usually depends on several conditions at once: the image should remain clean, touch should work across the full surface and there should be no spots, lines, flicker or lifting. Even then, the final choice still depends on the device model.
On many modern devices, the display construction makes glass-only replacement less attractive in terms of long-term reliability. In those cases, a service center will often recommend replacing the full module because the result is more stable and predictable.
Frame and housing damage also matter. If the device geometry has already shifted, a new screen or new glass may sit under stress, which raises the chance of a repeat failure. The customer may only see the crack, while the service center also sees the mechanical distortion around it.
That is why a serious repair decision cannot be promised from a photo alone. Inspection is not there to complicate the process. It is there to choose the option that will be safer and more reliable after the device is returned.
