Device not charging: battery, cable, port or already a board issue
A layered breakdown of charging faults, from the cable and dirt to microsoldering and board repair.
Sometimes the cause really is simple: the cable, the charger or dirt inside the charging port. But after a drop, moisture, overheating or long-term wear, the list of possible causes becomes much wider.
That is why a serious repair process should not start with blindly replacing the port. When a device does not charge, the service center usually checks power draw, contact condition, flex cables, connectors and the device’s behavior under controlled power.
In some cases the issue is tied to the battery itself: it may no longer accept charge correctly, may heat excessively or may destabilize power delivery. In others, the real fault is already on the board and the port is only where the symptom becomes visible.
Proper diagnostics save the customer money here. They prevent the replacement of a working part just because it looks like the most obvious suspect. This becomes especially important when the device was previously opened or exposed to liquid.
Only after that level of checking can you honestly say whether the problem is solved by cleaning, modular replacement or actual board work. That is why “it is not charging” almost never means the same repair in every case.
